Working on a bank holiday
Whether you get the day off, or extra pay for working it, depends on your contract or collective agreement. Shops, hospitality and the many people who work shifts in Gibraltar often work bank holidays. If you live in Spain and work in Gibraltar, Gibraltar’s holidays decide your working days, not Spain’s: see frontier workers.
For pay on any day, the legal floor is the minimum wage, £10.00 an hour from 1 August 2026. More on the rules of working on the Rock: working in Gibraltar.
